Gas Line cut!

Project 2023 was to eliminate the final methane/natural gas usage in the house. This meant:

  • New 200A panel installed. Not cheap, but not as. bad as thought.

  • Heat pump hot water heater. I'll document that under the Hot Water tab

  • Getting rid of the gas stove. This entailed a new 40A/240V service being run into the kitchen. Messy, but not too difficult.

  • Electric dryer. The biggest pain: we never use the gas one anyway and meant a new 40A line up to the second floor......some paint and patching later, all fine.

By Feb 2024, one call to Enbridge and that was that. We now at the mercy of the Ontario electricity grid (keep it green please) but this represents the lowest that things can get, unless I can magic some additional roof space for more solar PV.

Thanks @nikitaltd for your heat pump expertise (and to AO Smith for the heater)
